A healthy option for sports drinks

A new isotonic sports drink is aiming to become the healthy option in the crowded market it is launching in. According to its makers, iPro Sport differentiates itself from other isotonic drinks by being a more suitable option for the average active person – and not being exclusively targeted at professional athletes.

The drink limits sugar intake and offers potential health benefits when used in concert with exercise. It uses natural sugar replacement stevia, which has no calories, and contains B12, B6 and pantothenic acid as well as 40 per cent of the daily recommended vitamin C dosage per 100ml.

iPro’s management team invested in Derby County Football Club in December 2013 – buying the naming rights to the stadium for £7m ($11.8m, €8.65m) – despite the product only being available online at the time. The team now uses iPro during training and matches.

The drink comes in three flavours – citrus blend, orange and pineapple, and berry mix – and doesn’t contain any artificial colours.
